Kristín Anna’s Farewell

23/11/06

We can bring you some news on Kristín Anna Valtýsdóttir. In beginning of this year Kristín anna left her band Múmand moved to New York, where she married and now lives with her husband. Following travels in Mexico, in June Kristin and Eiríkur Orri (who plays trumpet in Múm) wrote music for a modern dance piece that they are currently recording, which features trumpet, and chinese harp, vocals and "lot of strange sounds"

Kristin also appears oplaying accordian on the forthcoming Stórsveit Nix Noltes album, which was recorded live in six days in a summer cabin / studio in Iceland. Stórsveit Nix Noltes is an Icelandic ensemble that plays bulgarian folk music. Their last album appeared on BubbleCore Records and Icelandic 12 Tónar label. They have toured with Animal Collective, as well as playing at the FatCat night at SXSW Festival in Austin, Texas earlier this year.

In January, April and October, she and Avey Tare worked on recording a bunch of songs they had written in Paris in August 2005. They recorded vocals, piano and guitars on a 8-track and mixed them down on a cheap 2-track, and hope to have the recordings finished and released sometime next year. We will bring you further news on all these projects as we have it.

Kristin's thoughts on parting from Múm can be found in her open letter, here
