FatCat Open Circuit IV In Belgium This Friday

Following the amazing success of Vashti Bunyan's show at the barbican on saturday, this weekend sees the FatCat mini-festival event at the great Kunstencentrum BELGIE venue in Hasselt, Belgium. The event will take place over the course of two nights - Friday 10 and Saturday 11 February.

There will be sets from a large number of FatCat artists and friends, including Vashti Bunyan's first European show since 1968, plus a rare excursion to Belgium for improvised music pioneers AMM. There will also be sets from pianist / composer Max Richter; laptop noise meddlers Antenna Farm; electronica from Japan's Aoki Takamasa + Tujiko Noriko, and Com.a; power-electronics from San Francisco's D Yellow Swans; post-rock brilliance from Austria's Radian; gritty US hiphop noiseniks Food For Animals; improvised inspiration from the UK's Vibracathedral Orchestra and Finland's Kemialliset Ystävät; plus a DJ set from Múm's Orvar and Gunni (who will also do a live collaboration with Kemialliset).

Saturday night will witness the first ever live appearance of our new US signing, Our Brother The Native, and is the first time all 3 members have actually met! The trio will be replacing The Ivytree, who unfortunately had to cancel. Saturday night will hopefully reach a blow-out crescendowith a number of the artists collaborating together in short improvised sets...

FAT CAT 'Open Circuit' participates with the Hasselt cultureweekend SHOTS With confirmation awaited from a further few artists, there will also be a number of sets where some of the above artists will perform improvised collaborations together for the first time. The showas will take place in a number of different rooms within the venue (a former radiator factory), and there will also be a cinema room and installations. All in all, it should be an amazing event.
