Vashti Bunyan Signs For FatCat

After over a year of conversations, we can finally (and very proudly) announce the signing of legendary English singer / songwriter, Vashti Bunyan to the label. Vashti's story story is an incredible one that you can read more about via her own website. It's now over three decades since her sole album, Just Another Diamond Day, was recorded by Joe Boyd and released (in 1970) on the Philips label. Having promptly disappeared with little trace, along with its author (who disappeared to Scotland and Ireland), it wasn't until the late '90s and connection to the internet, that Vashti realised that her album had become a cult object and collector's item, regarded by many as a lost classic. In 2000, the record was re-released on Paul lambden's Spinney label to huge acclaim, , and she reemerged to tentatively begin playing and collaborating with people. as well as appearing on tracks by Piano Magic and Devendra Banhart, Vashti most recently appeared singing 3 songs on the Animal Collective EP, 'Prospect Hummer', which we released just a week ago. She is currently in the studio (with co-producer Max Richter) in her hometown of Edinburgh, writing and recording songs for a new album which will be released on FatCat before the end of the year.
